Australians rely on farmers to put food on the table and clothes on our back.
But right now, growing pressures threaten our food security. We need to make sure we have politicians in Canberra who back our farmers to make sure food and fibre is affordable for all Australians.
- 1 in 3 Australian families face food insecurity.
- Over the past 30 years, Australia has lost 15% of its farmland.
- Plans to remove water from farmers could reduce farm production by $9 billion.
We need support from the next Government to Keep Farmers Farming and ensure we have the right policies to guarantee our farmers can help feed and clothe Australians.
If you love Aussie grown, help us protect Aussie farms.

Contact your candidates
We need your support to call on government to reverse policies which make it harder for farmers to help feed and clothe Australians. Sign our open letter to the Prime Minister (include link to Sign our letter to the PM or contact your local MP or Senator.
Here’s how you can contact your local MP or Senator.
1. Identify your local MP (where you live and/or work)
You can find your local MP or Senator by entering your town or suburb on the Australian Electoral Commission website.
Once you’ve found your electorate, you can find your local MP’s contact details on the Australian Parliament House website. The full list of MPs and Senators is available.
2. Write an email or letter that will be noticed.
Members of Parliament receive hundreds of letters so make sure your email or letter gets noticed.
Remember to be polite, brief and clear because this is more likely to receive positive results.
Tips

Start by introducing yourself, where you live and your connection to farming or rural communities if it’s relevant.
State your support for the Keep Farmers Farming campaign.
To help drive the Keep Farmers Farming campaign, mention your support for the campaign at the outset. Reinforce your views on issues that mean most to you.
Download our election priorities for examples of messaging you could include in your email.
Consider inviting the MP or Senator to a meeting or your farm
By meeting with you, the MP can hear about the issue first-hand.
Tell them what you want from them.
Simply telling them how you feel about an issue is unlikely to result in change. Tell them what support you’d like. For example, you’d like their support to vote against anti-farmer legislation.
Ask for a response.
Even if you only receive a standard response to your letter, this still confirms the letter has been read. The more emails or letters they receive, the more likely they will be to act.
Provide your contact details.
Outline your contact details at the bottom of the email or letter
If you have not received a response after one month, phone the MP or Senator’s office to remind them about your letter and ask if you are likely to receive a reply.
